It is with great sadness that we have learnt of Ruth Brereton's death on 29th August in a motoring accident.
Ruth was a member of Pure FM from 2005-2007 and served on the committee during the 06/07 year; she was a very active member of the students union, even keeping bar at the Waterhole (Students Union bar).
Ruth always wore a smile, would listen to anyone and enjoyed life so much, she will be sadly missed.
We would like to extend our deepest sympathys to all Ruth's friends and family.
The 4-piece band from Brighton/London, will be playing on the BBC Introducing Stage hosted by Huw Stephens.
Other acts 'Introducing' acts include: Attack! Attack!, Dinosaur Pile Up, Eureka Machines, Fangs, Skeletons, People on Earth, the Maybes, These Monsters, Thomas Tantrum, Tiger Shadow, Tripwires, Kid iD, and The Humour, to name just a few.
The headline acts on the mainstage this year, are: Rage Against the Machine, The Killers, Metallica, Tenacious D, Bloc Party, and Queens of the Stone Age.

Still the holidays here at Pure FM, however we have two very exciting things to announce, the first is that the document that we submitted for our SRA Award, is now available to read online (see link below).
Also, breaking news abouts podcasts! - Yes, they return, with a bumper 19 minute video with our Station Manager, to go and find out more, simply click the blue podcast logo on the right.
The new committee and ultimately the new Tech Team endevour to upload many many many podcasts throughout the year, including extra coverage of the Sabb Elections as normal. We also hope to be able to bring you video podcasts (or Vodcasts), so you can see our ugly faces! Which leads on nicely to a little plug for the Union's latest online venture: upsu.tv. It is where UPSU will keep all of their video content, so if you think you've been caught on camera, then go check it out!

Pure FM has stopped broadcasting for the Summer holidays, but we promise that we'll be back in the autumn! Look out for us at Freshers Fayre 2008!
Our forums are still open so if you want to get involved with next year visit them and leave us a message.
We are always looking for new Djs and presenters. Also you don't have to be a Dj or a presenter to be a member of Pure FM, if you are interested in marketing, production, music, or the technical side of things then you can still get involved.
